Keep your online presence secure

Free VPN is a free security application that helps protect your online privacy. This VPN service is quite powerful and can help you bypass blocked websites, keep your online activity secure, and prevent unwanted monitoring on your digital identity and internet service provider, or ISP. It does so by keeping your IP address hidden from malicious actors.

Additional features include data encryption and browser extensions, along with zero advertisements. What’s more, streaming is made easier with Free VPN as it lets users circumvent region-specific restrictions to view movies, videos, and other content from around the world.

Protect your identity and data

Free VPN creates a secure tunnel between your computer and the server, so your data is safe from prying eyes. It’s a must-have tool for people whose everyday tasks involve accessing the internet. This security application is especially useful for those who often use public Wi-Fi, hotspots with weak security that are easy for hackers to break into and steal information from. Using a privacy tool such as this VPN can prevent such breaches.

As mentioned, Free VPN also hides your ISP, which is an essential feature for tech-savvy individuals, even those who don’t use public networks. That is because most people use the internet to access sensitive information such as their bank accounts, leaving the details open for someone to steal. The hotspot shield created by this security application hides your ISP and encrypts all communication between your computer and another website.

This robust solution employs cutting-edge security protocols to safeguard the data transmitted through Free VPN servers. It goes the extra mile to fortify server protection against phishing attacks, ensuring that your data remains invulnerable even in the face of sophisticated cyber threats. Its robust encryption techniques transform your data into an indecipherable code, rendering it unreadable to anyone who attempts to intercept it. This impenetrable barrier effectively shields your personal information, financial transactions, and sensitive communications from prying eyes.

Bypasses location restrictions and doesn’t keep logs

Free VPN has 25 servers in 14 countries to help users bypass restrictions put forth by ISPs, websites, and governments. The program achieves this by spoofing websites and ISPs about your current location. Moreover, your identity is kept completely anonymous while browsing with this VPN. This way, you can access sites that have been blocked or view international versions of different websites. However, the latter may not be possible in some cases due to additional restrictions placed on these websites.

Another convenient feature of Free VPN is its ability to keep your identity completely secure. The company behind the tool has a strict no-logs policy, which means that it doesn’t ask users to register nor does it record browsing history. It also doesn’t  have a bandwidth cap or shares user activity, IP address, or DNS settings with anyone — so you can browse the internet and access blocked sites while staying completely anonymous.

Comes with browser integration and doesn’t affect speed

Since Free VPN is a no-pay security application, it only has a limited number of servers. However, what it lacks there, it makes up for with its many features. Among which is the support browser integration, so you can add an extension to whichever browser you may be using, including Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge. Enabling this feature lets you protect your privacy from tracking tools and cookies.

Additionally, Free VPN optimizes its network infrastructure to handle the demands of high-bandwidth activities like streaming. Its servers are equipped with cutting-edge hardware and are strategically positioned around the globe to minimize geographical latency. This strategic distribution ensures that your data packets swiftly traverse the network, minimizing delays and buffering. It also employs advanced protocols that efficiently compress and transmit data packets, which reduces the overall bandwidth consumption.

Are there any alternatives?

Free VPN has a comprehensive list of features, but it does have strong competition. A few alternatives to check out are NordVPN, Hotspot Shield, Express VPN, and X-VPN.

Should I download Free VPN?

If you’re looking for an easy-to-use security program that is effective in protecting the information you share online, you should download Free VPN. Apart from masking your online identity, the application doesn’t employ a bandwidth cap, impact internet speed, or log any information. It also encrypts all traffic, so users can bypass region-specific restrictions and remain completely anonymous, and offers browser extension to protect against tracking tools.

In Softonic we scan all the files hosted on our platform to assess and avoid any potential harm for your device. Our team performs checks each time a new file is uploaded and periodically reviews files to confirm or update their status. This comprehensive process allows us to set a status for any downloadable file as follows:

Clean

It’s extremely likely that this software program is clean.

What does this mean?

We have scanned the file and URLs associated with this software program in more than 50 of the world's leading antivirus services; no possible threat has been detected.

Warning

This software program is potentially malicious or may contain unwanted bundled software.

Why is the software program still available?

Based on our scan system, we have determined that these flags are possibly false positives.

What is a false positive?

It means a benign program is wrongfully flagged as malicious due to an overly broad detection signature or algorithm used in an antivirus program.

We’d like to highlight that from time to time, we may miss a potentially malicious software program. To continue promising you a malware-free catalog of programs and apps, our team has integrated a Report Software feature in every catalog page that loops your feedback back to us.
